8th_Europe_Report -- 28_old_new12.jpg
After our cemetery visit, Monique and Alain take the 3 of us to a point nearer the Château (the ancient fortified castle that is a symbol of Brest) overlooking the Penfeld River.  Here, with a strong wind blowing, Alain and Monique explain where Harry St.Clare must have stood while taking Photo #069.  The white arrows inserted here in the old photo point to the turret which is pointed out in our recent photo taken by Peg.  The white circle inserted in the old photo indicates the approximate location where we were standing this day.  This would indicate that the old photo was taken in that gap in the upper ramparts of the Castle.
