Leaving our comfortable and convenient "gîte" for the day's
explorations, we board Patrick's 320d Sport Touring BMW with a thrill to be at
last near Brest and a curiosity and anticipation of what the day might hold.
It will take only a few minutes for us to drive in to the center of the city.
This will be a busy and emotional time as Keith anticipates learning more about
his father's experience here during World War One in the US Navy Aviation
Service. We have been told that Brest is the 2nd largest French Military
port and is now called the "European capital of Marine science and technology.
We will be immersed in the search to find traces our family member's 1917-1919
experience in this far western tip of France.
