Back outside this "Seehund Midget Submarine S 622" begs to have its photo taken.
The interpretive sign in English tells us that the German Navy began building
these small 2-man subs in early 1944. "At the end of World War II, French
naval forces came upon several abandoned Seehunds and decided to salvage four of
them. ... this small fleet of French midgets counted 858 missions before being
decommissioned in 1953."
