Before it was time to return to the Navy Base gate to meet Monique and the Commander, Patrick and Keith tried to find the Portzic lighthouse that appeared in some of our old photos.  We got close but the entrances indicated that this area was under military control and seemed to us at least, not inviting to foreign tourists.  We did pay a brief visit to the Dellec Fort area and then this view point overlooking the cove of Saint-Anne du Portzic.  Here we also got a good view of what is called the "Goulet de Brest" which is the relatively narrow strait that connects the huge Bay of Brest to the Atlantic Ocean.

But enough of this photo travelogue --- It was then time to hustle back for our memorable tour INSIDE the Brest Naval Base.  This would be an afternoon that Keith and Patrick would never forget.  We both owe a great debt of gratitude to our new friends Monique and Alain for their efforts in arranging the Base tour and to Commander Bruno Nicol for the time he took from his busy schedule to give us this special personal tour of the area where our Harry StClare Wheeler served in the US Navy almost 100 years previously.
