While Peg rests out of the wind in the BMW, Patrick shows Keith the sites at our
last stop - a view point of the
Île Vierge with its 2
lighthouses just off the northwest coast of Brittany. According to the the
linked Wikipedia site, this "is the location of the tallest stone lighthouse in
Europe, and the
tallest 'tradtional lighthouse' in the world. Even more interesting to
Keith was his understanding that this marked the southwest boundary of the
English Channel - to the west starts the Celtic Sea which soon fades into the
North Atlantic Ocean. This is almost due north of Brest. Geography
lesson of the day!
