This photo is an effort to show the use of seaweed (in trailer at left) as a
fertilizer in the fields. During low tides, locals walk around in rubber
boots gathering it in buckets. It is trucked to fields (trailer on left) and spread on the
ground and tilled in or allowed to compost in piles (see darker piles on right).
It is obviously a responsible use of a convenient if labor-intensive resource.
Peg walks a few more meters down the hill toward the garden. She determines that even if we make it to the garden, there would not be time to properly enjoy it before an uphill climb back would be required to meet the boat. All tolled, it would be safer to turn around. Later we learn how really close we were, yet even in retrospect, it was a good decision as Peg spent the next few days down with a cold.
