Patrick & Keith at first thought this round building perched above the mill
house and pond was some sort of grain storage structure. However we
discovered later, after checking online and finding the old land register map,
that this round building was listed as a "colombier" (French) or "dovecote"
(English) which we now know is one hell of a sturdy birdhouse. According
to Wikipedia such structures were often built on large estates in western France
to house doves and pigeons which were raised for food and fertilizer.
