We are soon out of the modern city of Brest driving east along the old road that
follows the north bank of the Élorn
River. The signs tell us we are entering
La Forest-Landerneau
and nearing our first stop at the large "bridge" town of Landerneau.
We will make one short stop first, but not realize the significance of the place
until later. This was just an old stone arch alongside the road.
Keith found it attractive and took a quick photo which got overlooked in
uploading this series. We realized too late that this was the "Arch
of Château de Joyeuse Garde" which
this Wikipedia
site tells us is the traditional site of a "castle associated with Arthurian
legend".
