"Walking back to our hotel that afternoon on the still frost covered walkways, we had enough time to pick up our suitcases and walk just a little over a block to the bus terminal. The sun was setting as we traveled north on the bus from Stavanger. It was dark by the time we arrived in Aksdal where Einar picked us up. Soon we were being greeted again in the warm and comfortable Slogvik home. We will have to describe later in more detail about the room were we are now staying. Our bed room now has a rather long name, but the short version is the 'Slooper Suite.' After some great food and conversation, we both slept very well. It was so wonderful to be back with these dear friends who have come to mean so much to our lives."

* The SSSS or Super Slooper Service Senter is an idea that the Slogviks and Wheelers have discussed and played with. It is still a rather vague concept but revolves around the idea of having some facility here on the Slogvik farm or nearby where visitors could come. In addition to a place to stay, it could offer some or all of the following:
A "homestay" to get the experience of family life on a Norwegian farm (past and/or present)
A taste of early emigration history in this area from where many of the early emigrants to America came.
Tours to the many interesting scenic and historical sites in the area.
Help with researching ancestral roots in the Tysvær/Rogaland areas.
Possible visits to the Norwegian farms where ancestors once lived.
Help with arrangements to visit other parts of Norway.
Guide and interpreter services.
Norwegian language lessons.
Fishing guide service.
Please let us know what you think of this idea --- is it good? is it crazy? would there be any interest? is it practical (i.e., economically feasible)? Drop a line to either the Wheelers at okwheeler@saber.net or the Slogviks at rotraud@online.no
