Peg's visit to New Jersey & New York City - Vol. 2

August 2002

The Harrison PATH station, NJ, is a study in converging lines and cityscape.

Tile work at all the station stops is quite artistic as well. This one in in lower Manhattan.

This banner pays tribute to lives lost at 9-11 WTC disaster.  Ann Mary's cousin and his brother-in-law are among them.

The construction site at Ground Zero, WTC.

Another view of the Ground Zero site

This nearby building appears to be wrapped in mourning crepe.

The New York pretzel was enjoyed at this park.

The Fulton Street Fish Market at it appears just after dawn.

The Fulton is the world's 2nd largest fist market.  Tokyo is 11 times bigger.

The white boxes are reminiscent of those of the Tokyo market.

These two guys wanted their picture taken -- we obliged.

Where will these tasty pieces end up?

Bags of clams and mussels

The morning sales are winding down with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

A friendly tourist (from California) took our picture.

Peg on the wharf cart.

Interesting harbor side skyscrapers and foreground ships

A sunrise of sorts -- the sun breaks through the overcast.

Taken through the rigging of a ship at the harbor side.

Here is the outside of the heavily guarded stock exchange

The Wall Street Bull -- Babe the Blue Ox it's not! Not even much like Ruth Rodeo bulls.

This poignant survivor of the WTC collapse emerged relatively unscathed from the wreckage.

Peg actually gets to see the famous first lady.

There she is:  Miss America!  Her copper came from Karmøy in Norway.

Yes Virginia, a tree does grow in Brooklyn -- or at least a wisteria vine of some vintage.

Standard operating procedure on the PATH train.

Upscale marketing for cheese.

HERE is where the fish from the Fulton Market ended up.

Interesting brownstones.
