After warm greetings from our French hosts at the train station, they suggest we
follow them to another more convenient parking area at a lover elevation near
the commercial harbor. As we look up from here we see the famous stairway
depicted in 2 of Harry St.Clare's early postcards. We will soon learn more
of this stairway which has survived since 1857 after we leave Patrick's car here
and all drive up to the higher level in our host's car. Another pending
destination is the tall tower on the right of this photo.
