This is the view of the southwest wall of the huge German submarine pen built in 1941 on the site of the US Naval Air Station.  It is believed that H.S. Wheeler's photo #101 of the Air Station was probably taken on the breakwater  just out (right) of where this huge concrete bunker now still stands. See next photo taken which shows more of the older breakwater which is dwarfed by
