Standing over the entrance in the space between the doubled churchyard walls, Patrick and Peg get a photo of Keith as takes this one of them as he was coming up the rampart steps to join them.  If we understand correctly, this is one of 23 "enclosed" or walled parishes called a "Parish close" (or enclos paroissial in French) in this region.  According to an interpretive sign nearby, we learn that, "A parish close is an area enclosed by a wall surrounding a church and other side buildings: - The cemetery, - The monumental archway giving access to the parish close, - The Calvary cross, - The ossuary initially destined to host the bones from the church, - The porch and sacristy adjoining the church."
