With our camera inadvertently left charging in the hotel room, all the evidence we have of the day is this map we used to find our way.  Our Harbour Ville Hotel was off the map in lower left, but we could catch city buses that frequently go in to the center of the city.  First by bus north to Thai embassy and then walking about the Orchard Road area. After an unfruitful visit to the embassy & a fun time at some huge shopping center food courts, we would next try the subway system to head to the south part of the city for the train station (off the bottom of this map). Then a leisurely stroll (if you can do that in tropical heat) toward the train station for next day's tickets to Butterworth.  We must return to Singapore in February to catch our return flight home.  We hope then to have more time to see some of the other parts of this interesting city.
