Milota/Eureka Library: Died at home 220 Wabash of Alcoholism, Single & Unemployed.  Father = Gabriel Olsen; Mother = Inger B. Olsen; Married Sisters: Anna Lee & Cecelia Gimle.

1920 US Census:  Age 13; Single; Immigration Year 1915; living with parents (Gabriel & Inger B. Olsen), 2 sisters (Anna & Cicilie) and 35 year old Norwegian Lodger Peter Lee in the family's owned home at 306 Pratt [now W Sonoma] St., Eureka.

1930 US Census:  Age 24; Single; Immigration Year 1915; living with his parents, younger sister Cecilia and 3 Norwegian lodgers Ernest Swan/Shwand, Gene Berg and Sverre Hansen; Olaf's Occupation was listed as "Salesman, Groceries"; he was not a veteran. [Olaf's father Gabriel, a respected butcher, owned and operated the Albee Street Market (meat & groceries at Albee & Pratt/Sonoma Streets) that catered to the Scandinavian trade.]

Illness Is Fatal For Eureka Man

Olaf Olsen, 31 years old and a native of Mandal, Norway, died last night at a local hospital.  He had lived in Eureka 20 years, coming here with his parents.  For the last few months Olsen had been living in Trinity county but had been here for the last week.  Olsen was a member of Fram Lodge Sons of Norway.

  Surviving are his father, Gabriel Olsen, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Lee and Mrs. Cecelia Gimle of Eureka; three uncles, Oscar Olsen of Eureka, Knud Carlson of Petaluma and Jorgen Tofte of Norway; three nephews, Arthur, Bernard and Leonard Lee of Eureka.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Sanders chapel with Rev. Paul Borup officiating.  Interment will be in Ocean View cemetery.
