Obituary:  Humboldt Standard, 6 Jan 1932:

         Olaf Christiansen Dies in Bay City

   Olaf M. Christiansen, 44, died this morning at Letterman hospital in San Francisco, after a brief illness.

   Deceased left here several days ago, accompanied by his nephew for a visit in San Francisco.  He was taken ill a few days ago and died early this morning.

   He was a native of Drammen, Norway.  Coming to Eureka when13 years of age, he had resided here all but six years since that time.

   Fraternally he was a member of Fram Lodge No. 13, Sons of Norway of which he was a charter member and past president.  Christiansen also was a veteran of the World War

   Surviving him are his father, Martin Christiansen, and two sisters, Mrs. Magda Hessel of San Francisco and Mrs. Dagney Vetrhus of Loleta.

   The body will arrive here by train tomorrow morning and funeral services will be held 'Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Sanders Funeral Home.  The Rev. Paul Borup of the Norwegian-Danish Lutheran church will officiate at the religious services and interment will be in the Sons of Norway plot at Ocean View cemetery.

   The services will be under the auspices of Fram Lodge.

 All members of Ram Lodge are requested to meet at Wabash and E streets Sunday, January 10th at 1:15 p.m. to attend the funeral of our late brother Olaf Christensen.

            DIED

CHRISTENSEN---In San Francisco, on Wednesday, January 6th, 1931 (sic), Olaf M. Christensen, beloved son of Mr. Martin Christensen of Eureka, loved brother of Mrs. Dagny Vetrhus of Loleta and Mrs. Magda Hessel of San Francisco; a native of Norway, aged 43 years, 11 months and 17 days.  

   Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Sunday, January 10th, 1932, at 1:30 o'clock p.m. from Sanders Funeral Home, 1835 E. Street, Eureka, California, Rev. Paul Borup officiating.  Interment at Sons of Norway Plot, Ocean View Cemetery.  Under the Auspices of Fram Lodge, No. 13, Sons of Norway.
