Joanne was born in Eureka on November 23, 1936, to Henny Stoveland and Elmer Halsebo. Henny and Elmer were both natives of Norway, and she was welcomed into the world by family and extended family of Eureka's large Norwegian community. She was baptized into the Norwegian Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church, which is now Calvary Lutheran Church, where she had been very active throughout the years and was currently the Hospitality Chairman. She will be greatly missed.
She was also very active in Fram 13, Sons of Norway, the Lodge she was "born into". She had held every office, and was currently their Financial Secretary. Another event that was dear to her heart and with which she was very involved was the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. Her father was one of the original founders. Joanne represented her lodge for many years and at one time served as the event's president.
Joanne was a member of Eureka High's class of 1954 and an Alum of Humboldt State, graduating with a BA in Art. She was a talented potter, painter and calligrapher. She was a great cook and able to organize and cater large events with little effort. Her talent for having everything she could ever need,, either in her purse or in the trunk of her car, were well known.
Joanne is survived by her children, Mark and Susanna Baker of Ferndale, Morgen Pulcini of El Dorado Hills, and Khristina and Tom Fulkerson of Trinidad; her grandchildren, Mason and Cassidy Pulcini of El Dorado Hills; and her nieces along with their children, Greta Daniels, Chris Jager, and Travis Pederson of Trinidad, Erica Daniels and Keith Ervin of McKinleyville.
