10. Robert Gilmore WRIGHT
(2)(3) was born in 1868 in Clarinda,
IA. Tony Kurtz data gives Superior, NE, as birth place. He died in 1925 in
Fremont, NE. He was buried in Fremont, NE. Robert was an engineer with the
Chicago Northwestern Railroad (1910-1940), and known down at the roundhouse as
"Bob Wright." In early childhood, he was caught sneaking into the
brown sugar jar. In order to cure him, his mother sat him down in the middle
of the floor with a bowl of brown sugar hoping he would get sick of it and lose
his desire. This didn't work. He had diabetes and died of kidney failure at
45. His grandson Richard remembers Sunday afternoon visits with these grandparents
in Fremont. He recalls the old crystal radio with earphones. Returning home
to Omaha, he gave Bob a dime and Richard a nickel to buy an ice cream cone on
the way home. Bob was upset because his coin was smaller. His religion was
listed as "Methodist/Episcopal."
He was married to Amy Etna LIMES on 4 Dec 1889 in Superior, NE.
11. Amy Etna LIMES was born on 8 Jan
1870 in Gasport ?, IA. She died on 16 Aug 1960 in Arcadia, CA. She was buried
in Femont, NE. She was a tiny person, barely 5 feet. Her husband was 6'4"
She raised three daughters: Faye, Florence, and Eunice. Richard W. often stayed
at his "Grandma Wright's " house in Fremont especially when he was
ill. She bought Richard's Boy Scout uniform. After her husband died (about
1925?) she worked as a housemother at Clarkson Hospital nursing school (home
for student nurses) in Omaha, Nebraska for a number of years. In later years
she lived with Florence and Floyd in Pasadena. When the great grandchildren
would visit, she would invite the girls in her room to play dress up. She was
a very nice person. She was very proper and always well-groomed. Tony Kurtz
states her religion was "Methodist/Episcopal."
