Day 4, Tuesday - Aksdal; Haugesund; Geir Visit; Andreas & Margunn Dinner

This was one of our more busy days.  We all had some chores, business or tasks to complete.  Einar had some obligatory business contacts to make, but most of our activities were of the fun and interesting type. We all drove to Aksdal where Rotraud and Peg needed to do some shopping and visit an art show. Einar had to go to the Førland area so Keith went along so he could stop at Anna Nora Baug's home-shop (previous photo) to buy a gift sweater and some caps.  Then it was back to Aksdal to meet the ladies and then pay a call on our good friend Ingvar Frøyland, Tysvær kommune's Cultural Officer. Our visit was, as always, pleasant but had to be brief this time (somehow no photos of Ingvar this time).

While at the main kommune building, we stop in to pay a quick visit to Keith's cousin Ingrid in her spacious office.

Headed in to Haugesund, we stop for some shopping. Here Keith tries to convince Peg to buy one of these lower priced substitutes for the traditional bunad.

After a pleasant lunch in Haugesund, Einar buys a cake at this pastry shop 

Next, Einar has some business down on the east side of Førdesfjorden towards Høie, where Keith takes this landscape photo. 

Back on the main road going east from Grinde, we get this road view of Grindefjorden ...

... and one of the frozen bays on the south edge of the Grindefjord.

Back on the Slogvik farm we find a new calf born and Keith takes this shot of the Hervik fjord as it is beginning to freeze over.

Here we also meet up with Geir Eide from just south of Haugesund who is on his way home from work.

Keith met Geir on the Norway List & here they discuss their common interests in genealogy & local history.

Back to Haugesund in the evening, a special dinner is planned at the friendly home of Andreas & Margunn Tofte, but first Keith & Andreas compare heart medications!

After a memorable meal of Komla (sorry we took no photos of this special meal, we were too busy enjoying it!), hostess Margunn pours coffee & serves delicious cake.

Settling back for a comfortable evening of interesting conversation, Andreas points out some interesting features of his high-tech digital camera.

Here we find Margunn, Andreas, Einar & Peg enjoying dessert & talk in the Tofte living room.
