The Beginning of our February 2003 Trip to Norway - Amsterdam Layover

Our son Patrick takes us to San Francisco International Airport. We check in with no problem and have time for coffee with our son before leaving.

An 8 hour layover at Amsterdam allows us to take the train in to the city for some sightseeing. Here Peg poses in front of the beautiful Central Station building.

A convenient and fun tram ride takes us to the Van Gogh Museum, in front of which we here find Peg.

And here is the view from the front of the Van Gogh and towards the Rijksmuseum.

Taking another tram back in to the middle of the city, we get off near the Royal Palace and here we find Peg in the area called "Dam."

While definitely on the chilly side, we take time to walk around some of the old central part of the city and enjoy the attractive buildings and canals.

Peg's favorite photo of one of the many bridges over the canals.

As we return to the train station, Keith photographs a grand old church that he and his son visited previously.*

* Keith and his son Patrick also visited Amsterdam on a flight layover on their way to Lebanon last September.  Patrick's may photos of Amsterdam can be found by going to our "Sept. 10, 2002 - AMSTERDAM - en-route to Beirut" web page.
