Tripoli - Island Swimming, Citadel, Grand Mosque, Souk, Casino

today took car from hotel and visited Tripoli.  stopped at boat harbor and took tour into Mediterranean.  there are some micro-islands off coast.  went snorkeling and got pictures of pretty little fishies.  all rock, no coral, but lots of fun.  very salty.

went to the Citadel of Raymond de Saint-Gilles and wandered through immense huge pile of rocks, rooms, and battlements.  Was quite amazing.  then on to the great old mosque built on top of crusader ruins.  went into the souk (shopping area) and wandered through the narrow streets/alleys.  found remnants of old Turkish bath.  visited the gold and jewelry stands.  special visit to copper/brass smithy.  cute little tyke gave us a tour of the back area where all the work was done.

too tired to send pictures, but they are amazing...

stopped in Tripoli for interesting meal at famous confectionary, Hallab & Sons.  they can have their stuff shipped via DHL to states in 2 days max (Oh boy are we in trouble!).  next stop was swing by "Club de Lebon" famous casino a'la Monte Carlo in its hay-day.   was closed so we do not need a second mortgage ...

stopped at ABC, major upscale department store/mall.  got loot.

home and soon to bed.

leave tomorrow night at midnight, is hard to believe this trip is almost over, has been incredible.

love to you all...
