Beirut - Day 8, Shopping & saying "Goodbyes"
No e-mails sent this day other than to tell folks we would soon be heading home. We started the day by having a pleasant light breakfast with friends Nada & Arminée. Then it was off for last minute shopping in the Hamra District for gifts for friends & relatives. Nada & Arminée were of invaluable assistance with this process. We then parted so that we all could tend to other business. We re-met this evening for another very pleasant visit to the Abbas home in Beirut. It was time for visiting, photo ops and wishing our dear friends farewell and much gratitude. Back at the hotel we tried to get some rest and took time to say farewell to the hotel staff who had all become good friends by now. Then it was off to the Beirut Airport about midnight to start the process of going home to California.

After a refreshing bite to eat and
wonderful coffee, it is time to hit the Beirut streets for serious
shopping.

Our mouths watered as we enjoyed
shopping at the great Nougatini Chocolatier Confiseur shop.

We had visited the Virus Internet Cafe often, but always at night when the owner was not present. Here Keith meets owner Abi Siblini who is now a Norwegian citizen. Of course they talked of things Norwegian! Virus's new web site: www.virusinternetcafe.com |
Ahmad, Fatmeh, Patrick, Nada & Arminée. | Wonderful smiles by Ahmad, Nada & Fatmeh. | Time for one last taste treat from Beirut - a late night visit to the famous Barbar restaurant. | Our hotel, the Versaille Home - photo taken earlier - very friendly & comfortable hotel. |
See our "Hotel Page" for more photos of this hotel & staff. | |||
We bid "goodbye" to the helpful hotel staff. Mustapha, 2nd from left, would drive us to the airport; the manager, Bilal, is in the blue shirt. | We had previously (& sadly) bid farewell to the lovely ladies, Lena & Eva, that usually were so helpful at the desk during the daytime. |
