3628. William HOLBROOK
(1078). The earliest proven ancestor in this family is William Holbrook
of Glastonbury. Boyer, pp. 230-232, says he was born perhaps in Thornbury, Gloustershire,
or Glastonbury, Somersetshire, England, about 1562, and it is reasonable to assume
that he was a son of Thomas and Constans (Thayer) Holbrook who were married at
Thornbury 19 Feb 1650-1. Thornbury is only a few miles north of Glastonbury.
He lived in the parish of St. John the Baptist, Glastonbury where on 11 June
1612 Edith Holbrook was buried. She may have been his wife. William's will,
dated 11 Dec 1625, was proven 1 Feb 1625-6, so he died
sometime in that period in Glastonbury. He named his son Thomas one of the overseers
and mentioned three grandchildren, including 'Thomas Holbrook ye yonger.'"
