146. Stein Danielsen VASSENDEN ⁽³⁹³⁾⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1712 in Norway. He died in 1784 in Norway. [Probate dated 19 Apr 1784.] The Slooper book gives his name as Sten Danielsen Vatsenden.
Stein was called out for military service during the period 1734-1742. He was married twice. After his first wife, Malena Eriksdtr, died in 1768, he married Mette Olsdtr Vik on 20 Nov 1769. Mette had been married previously to Mikkel Eielsen. Stein used the Vassenden farm together with his father from when he married Malena to when his father died in 1755. He bought up inherited parts from his brothers and in-law in 1752. The deed was notarized ("tinglyse") 13 Nov 1752. He formally leased a half of the property in 1753; leasehold letter was notarized ("tinglyse") 12 Nov 1752. At the settlement of the estate after the death of his first wife, Malena Eriksdtr, he owned the whole Vassenden farm and at least part of Vassendvik. He used the farm alone from 1755 to 1768. In his later years, his daughter and son-in-law took part in the farm management. They took over whole the farm in 1772.
He was married to Malene Eriksdtr. ØSTEBO (YSTEBÖ) IN VIKEDAL on 15 Jul 1743 in Norway. [Slooper book has marriage in 1742.]

147. Malene Eriksdtr. ØSTEBO (YSTEBÖ) IN VIKEDAL⁽³⁹⁴⁾⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1711 in Norway. [Slooper book gives birth year as 1710; Nedstrand bygdebok has 1711.] She died in 1768 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. Children were:

i. Malena Steinsdtr VASSENDEN⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1742 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She was baptised on 7 Dec 1742. She died in 1743 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. Died quite young.
ii. Maren VASSENDEN⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1744 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She was baptised on 2 Feb 1744. Probably died young, probably about 9 or 10 years of age.
iii. Daniel Steinsen VASSENDEN⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1747 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. He was baptised on 28 Aug 1747. Died young.

v. Sissel Steinsdtr VASSENDEN⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1753 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She was baptised on 11 Mar 1753 in Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She died in 1813 in Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She married in 1786 to Nils Toresen (Olsen ?) (Nils was called Kalhagen in 1786) and lived at Roaldsvik under Prestegarden Hinderå in Nedstrand parish; they had one son of record: Stein Nilsen, b. 1787, who lived later at Øvre Amdal.

vi. Daniel Steinsen VASSENDEN⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1755 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. He was baptised on 25 Dec 1755 in Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. He died young.

vii. Berta Steinsdtr. VASSENDEN⁽²¹¹⁾ was born in 1757 in Vassenden, Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She was baptised on 22 May 1757 in Nedstrand, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She died in 1811 in Aksland, Tysvær, Rogaland, Norway. She was the first of 2 wives of Holger Anderson from Seldal farm. They were married in 1776 and farmed Bruk 1 of the Aksland farm in Nedstrand parish. There they had a large family of 10 children before Berta died. After Berta died, Holger married Marta Jonsdtr. and they had one daughter who later became embroiled in controversy for having 7 children out of wedlock. This daughter, Marta Henrikka Holgersdtr., lived with Østen Nilsen of Landråk and had 6 children by him. They petitioned separation from the state church and indicated affiliation with Quakers.
