488. Alexander TENNANT (295)(388) was born in Scotland. He died in RI. According to material furnished by Sondra Lord, "Alexander Tennant, said to have been born in Scotland. Was at Kingstown - Jamestown, Rhode Island in 1675. He was taxed 3 shillings 6 Sept. 1687 and was a freeman at Jamestown in 1696. Is said to have had a wife named PRUDENCE." On Joyce Minton's Roots Web's WorldConnect Project "SLAYMAKER" the following note is given for Alexander: "Alexander was a native of Scotland, who is said to have been a strict Presbyterian. He emigrated to America and lived in Kingstown, Rhode Island in 1675 with his wife Prudence. Tennant Fam Gen p. 313." He was married to Prudence ______?.

489. Prudence ______? (295). Children were:

child i. Hannah TENNANT(295) (388) was born on 27 Jan 1680 in Kings Town, RI.
child ii. John TENNANT was born on 26 Sep 1689 in RI. He married possibly 18 Oct 1710 Martha Remington. "On 28 July 1713 John and his wife Martha sold for £65 to William Wanton 90 acres in East Greenwich, RI. In March 1724 John had a suit brought against him at Jamestown by Thomas Peckham of Newport, house carpenter. Sometime after this according to the Tennant Family Gen. ... John removed to New London Co., Conn." Possible children of John and Martha are Phebe who married George Durwell, and John who married Freelove Aylesworth.

child iv. Abigail TENNANT(295) (388) was born about 1691 in RI. She died in 1758. She married Samuel Tefft, son of Samuel Tefft and Elizabeth Jenckes. Abigail and Samuel resided in Kingstown, RI, and had the following children: Samuel (b. 19 Jan 1712), Daniel (b. 14 Jun 1714), Stephen (b. 5 Oct 1716), Tennant (b. 29 Sep 1720), and twins Abigail and Ebenezer (both b. 14 Feb. 1724).
