Announcing the

Some Old Norwegian Families

Monograph Series -- ISSN 2150-749X

by Henrik O. Lunde,* historian/genealogist of medieval Norse life and times

.

This soft-bound monograph series grew out of the family modules concept used successfully in Henrik’s book, Some Old Norse Families. That book, covering some of the families in Norse medieval life and times, quite naturally did not include Norwegian families important after 1600.

Henrik therefore decided to cover those families from which large numbers of Norwegian-Americans are very likely descended. Each monograph is designed to cover one family of importance, as well as the major families to which it is connected. Each monograph includes appropriate genealogical charts and illustrations.

The first monographs in the series, which are to be issued on an irregular basis, are:

M1The Family of Ivar in Valen, Unresolved Genealogical Issues. [30 - 7"x9" pages, 2 descendant charts, 7 related images] by Henrik O. Lunde. This Monograph is available now with release date of October 1, 2009.  Click HERE for front & back cover image.  Click HERE for page 1 image.  Click HERE for sample page with chart/table.

The Valen family is one to which many tens of thousands can trace their roots. Solutions to problems pertaining to their ancestors and children will require revision of many family histories – some trace their families to this Valen couple based on erroneous or unverified information, while still others have seized on the very speculative information about Ivar and Herborg’s ancestors to continue their lines. Solutions to the questions surrounding this family will also impact on what has been written about many other well-known families such as Sle, Haard, Benkestok, Stillufseike, and Semeleng.

M2The Lillienskiold Family in Norway, with Mecklenborg, Bager, and Unker Line. [34 - 7"x9" pages, 6 descendant charts, 3 related images] by Henrik O. Lunde.  This Monograph is available now, having been released in mid October, 2009.  Click HERE for front & back cover image.  Click HERE for page 1 image.  Click HERE for sample page with chart/table.
