San Francisco Bay Area Norway Days Festival 2001

In the past, the annual Norway Days Festival was held at Fort Mason in San Francisco.  May 2001 would be the first time that it would be held at the San Mateo Expo Center south of San Francisco.  We decided to drive this extra distance to attend this fun event.  We thought we took more pictures, but those below are all that we can find as we decided over a year later (May 2002) to make this page and share these few photos.  After we left San Mateo we drove north over the Bay Bridge to visit our son and his wife who live near the Richmond Marina.  More Norway Days photos from our 2002 visit can be seen on our "San Francisco Bay Area Norway Days Festival 2002" page.

Here the Bay area Nordahl Grieg Leikarring Traditional Norwegian Folk Dance Group perform. Dance director Mikkel Thompson & his mother are center foreground.

Peg joins the Norwegian food demonstration group for a photo op.  The ladies are making krumkake, a traditional Norwegian desert.

Late in the day Keith unexpectedly runs in to his nephew (& fellow Slooper), Michael Wheeler.

Leaving San Mateo and driving north we cross the S.F.-Oakland Bay Bridge. Art teacher Peg finds this shot an interesting study in convergent lines (& dirty windshield!).

Near our son's home, Peg & Patrick pose with the view of the Richmond Marina in the background.
