We had spent some enjoyable time in the northern regions of
Thailand, but we wanted to visit the south part as well before we left. We
had enjoyed swimming and snorkeling earlier, but we would have to go south for
that. One of our nurse friends at the Ban Pong hospital had told us of the
southern Trang area where she was from. That sounded like a good destination to
spend some of our last days in Thailand. We were aware of the very popular
tourist destination of Phuket, but our preferences to stay away from the intense
touristy areas made the Trang
Province area farther south seem appealing.
