First, you have to listen to the teacher tell about Japanese wood block prints and how they are so famous and important in Japan. (click on this one to enlarge) Then you transfer your design to a special flexible print block.

Next you carve away everything you don't want printed.  You have to be especially careful to reverse any words so they print correctly.
Paying special attention to details will make for a beautiful print.

show off the
