Velkommen !! the Fram Lodge welcomes you! |
The polar exploration ship, Fram. |
Celebrating more than 105 years of Norwegian Heritage on the north coast of California. |
One of the older Sons of Norway lodges in the West, the Fram Lodge was formally chartered in 1910. The name Fram was selected for our Lodge in tribute to the noted Norwegian Polar Exploration ship by that name. The name "Fram" -- which means "forward" in Norwegian -- is associated with some of "the most significant achievements in Norwegian and International polar history and with some of the greatest explorers of recent times."
Learn more about this ship on our "Fram ship" page.
Also on the "Fram" page, learn of the family connection between one of the team to first reach the south pole and one of our early Lodge members.
Learn more of the Lodge's rich past on our "History" pages.
Our Lodge has the distinction of having its own cemetery plot. Find out more and see photos on our Cemetery page.
Check out our photo pages for pictures past and present, plus photos of original paintings and other artifacts belonging to the Lodge. (We hope to eventually have a large collection of identified & digitized photographs from early Lodge activities.)
See photos of the current Norwegian language class originally taught by the late Erling Daastol, continuing now in his memory.
