Approximate translation of Norwegian text on back side of commemorative plate:

NORWEGIAN VESSELS

Motive 1 "RESTAURATION"

was built 1801 in Hardanger and was named then "Emanuel."

In the year 1815 it was rebuilt and therefore got

the name "Restauration." The ship was Norway's first

emigrant ship. It was Quakers in the Stavanger area

who bought the ship and sailed it over to America

in 1825. The sloop was about 37 gross reg. tons.

It had 52 persons aboard when they left from

Stavanger. A child was born aboard, so when they

arrived at New York after an exciting and

eventful voyage of a good 3 months, they were 53.
