The Slogviks visit the Wheelers - Summer 2002

PHOTO ALBUM 8

July 29

Resuming our tour of San Francisco after Fisherman's Wharf, but being a little unsure in our recollections of this photo, we believe this to be Hyde Street. This is probably the Norwegian Seaman's Church with the flag showing on the left.

A tour of San Francisco in not complete without a ride down this famous twisty section of Lombard Street - much photographed, often in the movies, and known as the "crookedest street."

Another photo a little further down Lombard Street. In the distant center is the prominent Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill.

This street scene gives us another view of the Transamerica Pyramid Building, a prominent San Francisco landmark.

Now we find Einar and Rotraud at the base of the famous Coit Tower built in 1933.

Einar, Patrick & Rotraud prepare to enter the base of the art deco Coit Tower.

Inside the ground floor of the Tower we view here only a few of the Diego Rivera-inspired WPA murals

Keith found this an interesting composition visually, but he was not sure why Columbus was here. He didn't discover San Francisco and he only found America many years after the Vikings came.  Oh, well ...

When in San Francisco and you can get a good shot of a cable car, that is just what one must do.  This one was taken from a fast moving car.

Near the parking lot on the south end of the Golden Gate Bridge, we find this interesting interpretive display that shows the interior structure of the huge cables that support this suspension bridge.

Einar takes a photo of Patrick & Rotraud as they start walking out on the south end of the Golden Gate.

This is a view of the city from the south end of the Golden Gate.

Walking back to the parking lot, Einar, Patrick & Rotraud pause by the historic "Roundhouse" that offers information and souvenirs.

As Patrick starts to drive us across the Golden Gate, Keith gets this photo through the windshield.

Now on the north side of the Bridge it is time for another photo op of our now famous guests from Norway.

Yes, and one more shot of Einar & Rotraud, this time with the city in the background across the Bay.

Patrick brings the Slogviks & Keith here to the classy Guaymas Mexican restauant in Tiburon, Marin Co., to meet his wife Karen & Peg for dinner.

After a most fine meal, we all pose for a group photo in front of the restaurant. San Francisco can be barely seen here fading into the Bay fog.
