34. Ferry from Tau in Sanda to Stavanger - Quiet Sunday (July 16) in Stavanger.

See Travel Report #17.

Title: One view of the community of Tau in the Strand municipality, this shot taken from the ferry as we start to leave Tau.

Title: As we get underway from Tau we see interesting clouds over this part of Strand kommune - with Tau on the left and the distant view towards Jørpeland on the right.

Title: Leaving Tau in our wake, Peg enjoys the views from the upper open deck on this ferry.

Title: Another interesting view of sky, mountains and wide open fjords as our ferry heads towards Stavanger.

Title: Enjoying the warmth of his Tysvær sweater on this crisp Sunday morning, Keith goes forward on the ferry to check out the views as we near Stavanger.

Title: Getting closer to Stavanger, we will soon pass under the bridge that connect the city to some of the islands to the north, the largest of which is Hundvåg.

Title: Near where our ferry arrives in Stavanger we get this busy wharf scene. A large tourist cruise ship is in port.

Title: A very prominent part of the Stavanger skyline is the Valberg Tower. It was built in the early 1850's and served as an observation tower for the city's guards.

Title: Late on a Sunday afternoon we find the streets in Stavanger quite empty.

Title: At the large intersection near the Stavanger Cathedral this view looks down toward the "vågen" (harbor) where the July 4th Emigration Festival took place. The Valberg Tower is also prominent here.

Title: From one of the side windows in our Radisson SAS Atlantic hotel, we get a view of many modern apartment/condo buildings and a modern church.

Title: Distorted somewhat by the window reflection, we here look down from our hotel toward the Stavanger railway station (building with red & white square emblem). The bus station is the gray building beyond and to the left.
