Day 9 (actually the 10th day since we left home) - 9/19/2002 - Flight Home

Beirut to Amsterdam to San Francisco Bay Area in California

We had anticipated some problems (such as Visas, shots, etc.) entering and leaving Lebanon.  We encountered none.  The Beirut airport has been rebuilt and is very modern and efficient.  We were told that there was good shopping to be had at the airport and we could spend the last of our excess Lebanese lira.  As we got there after midnight, all that was open was an expensive jewelry shop and a sleepy cafe.  Oh, well...

Patrick at the coffee shop at the Beirut airport - waiting for our flight out. We don't have enough time to make a comfortable trip in to Amsterdam during this layover, but do go outside the terminal for some fresh Dutch air. Back inside, we find easy Internet connection & send a notice that we are on the way home

Interesting sculptures in the Schiphol terminal - just how Keith feels at this moment. Keith likes this cow and bright cheese promotion at Schiphol. Patrick finds a place to rest at the airport & Keith makes full use of it. Back home in the San Francisco Bay area, Rufus is happy to have his Patrick back!

A most wonderful & enjoyable trip ...

Thank you Lebanon !!
