1856. Francis VALENTINE
(192)(81) was born in England.
He died in England. Of Lancashire, England. "Our Valentine family came
from a small town near Manchester, England, called Eccles. The family home was
Bencliffe Hall and many entries in the church records add 'Gentleman' after the
Valentine name. Alexander ('John Valentine Progenitor of the Valentine Family
in New England and a Man of Mark in Boston,' 1937), the source of all the information
here about John(1) and John(2), gives a probable lineage but says that since
the information available is so incomplete it is impossible to be certain about
it. However, we know they are connected to the Eccles Valentines because after
the move to Boston family members kept in touch across the ocean and in 1763
Bencliffe Hall was willed to "Samuel Valentine, the eldest son of John Valentine,
deceased, late of Boston in New England, my second Cousin" by the Reverend
Thomas Valentine, who was then in County Sligo, Ireland. Samuel in turn willed
his English property to his sons William and David, but by 1792 they realized
that neither of them would ever want to move back to England and they sold the
Hall and land." (Bonnie Hubbard)
He was married. Children were:
