     March 2009 --- After 2 weeks staying in the outskirts of Siem Reap and trying to plug in to the neighborhood and NGO activities, the aches and pains of traveling, injuries, and general old age became debilitating.  It was time to call on an old friend to “rescue” us from our own folly and ailments.  With a little struggle we were able to find his cell phone number.  Within a very short period of time he arrived to offer explanations to our hosts (who knew very little English) – made the call to Mr. T to bring a car for us and our luggage – and to situate us in a ground-floor room in a small guest hotel in a convenient location closer to the center of town. 

     As we had several more days before we needed to catch our flight out of the country (to Singapore to catch our scheduled flight home), Sopheak arranged for some activities that would interest Peg while being easy on Keith.  In addition he arranged for our bus ride to Phnom Penh for our flight out, complete with help at all connections and a convenient overnight hotel room.  We are forever in his debt.
