ALBUM 1 - Introduction and miscellaneous views of Siem Reap
& surrounding areas. - (01intro_misc_pics, 34 images)
February-March
2009 --- Our Thai visas were expiring and we had
decided to revisit Siem Reap, Cambodia and the Khmer ruins of Angkor Wat which
we had so enjoyed in 2003. 5 years later it was that memory that called us back.
However, in the interim, we had learned of other aspects of Cambodia
(specifically the world of and need for NGO's) Peg had a friend who had a friend
involved in several good projects. Moreover, there was a guesthouse in which we
could stay. We liked the idea of not being in a tourist hotel so we could get
more of a flavor of everyday life in Cambodia.
We had also planned to try to plug into the ongoing
good-works projects we’d been reading about. Unfortunately, Keith’s painful
joints became more aggravated and we were unable to participate to the extent we
had intended. When medical conditions got worse, it was time to contact our
friend and previous Siem Reap guide, Srun Sopheak He came to our rescue with
assistance relocating and making arrangements for our return flight (see
Cambodia Album
9).
